Recertification

Infrared Thermography Recertification is a written proof of your up-to-date professional infrared qualifications. The infrared recertification process is the key to obtaining the written testimony used to communicate those qualifications. Ongoing infrared recertification keeps your certification current and assures that your infrared thermography qualifications will be recognized wherever you go and wherever you work.

All ITC certified thermographers renewing their certification level are required to meet continuing education or professional contribution requirements. Recertification of thermographers is intended to apply only to individuals who maintain continued active employment in thermography and demonstrate efforts to keep abreast of new developments in the field. All renewed certifications are valid for 5 years.

There are two ways of extending your ITC thermography certification level: a) attend another ITC certification course or b) show continuing involvement in thermography as outlined below:

Show proof of continuous employment requiring thermographic work over the current certification period, PLUS earn 32 recertification credits in any combination of the following activities:

Write a published infrared technical paper at a thermography conference (16 credits each) or an infrared article published in a technical trade journal, industry magazine, or the itc InfraMation newsletter (16 credits each). Submit a copy of the article with a recertification form and fee.

Attend sessions at a thermography conference or itc application course (1 credit per contact hour). Submit proof of attendance (with a Verification Form) at all morning and afternoon sessions and send to ITC with a Recertification Form and fee.

The recertification form should be sent to ITC 3 months before your certification expires. It explains in detail what you need to do to recertify. You will also find this form in your training manuals as well.

* Attendees and authors at the ITC InfraMation thermography conference or students at an ITC infrared application course are exempt from the infrared thermography recertification fee.
